What happens

Bud Abbott and Lou Costello play two men who take summer jobs at a department store to earn money, as their friend Mrs. Niles has arranged for them. Costello arrives late from his uncle's farm, where he claims to have been milking cows and picking vegetables, and the two of them are put through a clumsy job interview by the store's employment office. The store manager pushes them into a Mother's Day sale, where they struggle to sell bathing caps, perfume and other goods to customers, including actress Claire Trevor. The program is part of the Abbott and Costello series, which aired on NBC and ABC, and it is sponsored by Camel cigarettes. The broadcast was first heard on May 11, 1944.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
