What happens

Lou Costello dresses as Santa Claus to hold a Christmas party for his little brother Sebastian, who is about to join the Marines. Bud Abbott plays his neighbor and friend, and the two argue at length about the family's oversized tree, which has been cut down and set up in the living room. Abbott tries to explain what a Christmas tree is, but the talk keeps circling back to pine cones, bark and confusion. Visitors arrive, including a florist who sells holly wreaths and flowers, and the household gets louder and busier. This is from the Abbott and Costello radio series, first broadcast on December 21, 1944, on NBC and ABC, with Connie Haines also singing on the program.

The Costello home in California, on the days before Christmas, with a large Christmas tree in the living room and visitors coming to the party.

Listen for: The long running argument between Costello and Abbott about what kind of tree they bought and what makes it a Christmas tree.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
