What happens

In a ruined post-atomic-war world, Dr. Charles Marin is recruited by the president of the World Council, Melkov, for a mission to travel back in time and murder Albert Einstein before the discovery that unlocked atomic energy. Marin accepts, boards a time-travel barge in the East River with the physicist Waxman and a security man named John, and is sent back to Zurich in 1900. The story is part of the X Minus One science fiction series, broadcast by NBC on December 26, 1957, with Joseph Bell as Dr. Marin and Frank Silvera as President Melkov.

A devastated future New York, where the ruined United Nations building serves as World Council headquarters, and the Zurich Polytechnic Institute in 1900.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
