What happens
Danny Pearson, a newspaper reporter, is driving north to cover the manhunt for an escaped convict when car trouble forces him to stop at a lonely farmhouse with a tourist sign. He takes a room for the night, but soon a young woman named Claire slips into his room and tells him that her foster mother has killed her foster father. Danny is uneasy about her story, yet he agrees to help her leave the farm. They go to look at a freshly dug patch of ground in the woods, and Danny must decide whom to believe as the night's events unfold. The episode is the first part of a Whistler story, with the cast and original air date stated in the guide.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
