What happens

Helen Van Norton's foster brother Ted has been missing overseas for nearly seven years, and she is anxious to learn whether he is alive. When a man arrives at her house claiming to be Ted, Helen insists he is an impostor. Her lawyer George Chadwick is skeptical, and the stranger produces documents that seem genuine. Helen sets out to prove the man's identity is false, checking his story through a school headmaster and the State Department. The episode is part of The Whistler radio series, first broadcast on June 2, 1948.

Seattle, in the years after World War II, at the Van Norton house and in the city's offices.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
