What happens

Dr. Sheridan saves Ellen Denton from a sleeping-pill overdose at her townhouse, after her husband Jeffrey vanished eight months earlier. Her brother-in-law Charles and his wife Valerie watch over her grief, while Ellen hires private detective Fred Nathan to search for Jeffrey. When Nathan produces a sport coat matching the one Jeffrey wore, Ellen grows uneasy and begins to suspect that Nathan and Charles are working together against her. The Whistler, a radio anthology series, presents this story in its 1950 broadcast on May 21. The lead actors are not named in the transcript, so they are omitted here.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
