What happens

Henry Parker looks forward to a quiet Sunday while his wife Ruth is away at their lodge at Lake Arrowhead. His lover Daphne arrives unexpectedly and presses him to choose between her and his marriage. Ruth then returns to town, insisting Henry come back with her that afternoon for their tenth anniversary. The Whistler series, first broadcast on June 10, 1946, tells the story in its own voice. Henry and Daphne face a sudden crisis that threatens to undo everything Henry has built.

Characters: Henry Parker, Daphne, Ruth Parker, Charlie Hardcastle, Freddy

Listen for: Daphne's pressure on Henry to choose between her and his wife, and Ruth's unexpected return to town

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
