What happens

Herbert Randall, a student of parapsychology, believes he has received a telepathic message from Thomas Banning, a writer on psychic phenomena whom he has never met. The message says Banning has an unfinished manuscript that Herbert must find. Herbert and his wife Andrea drive to Banning's country estate, where the household seems uneasy and something unsettling is happening on the grounds. The Whistler introduces the story as a tale about mind over matter, and the episode is an early broadcast of the series, first aired in January 1943 on CBS.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
