What happens

Hans Minkler, a mild-mannered Viennese biologist, is drawn into a secret society of seven scientists who claim to be fighting the Nazis in Austria. He is handed a name by lot and told he must kill the man, Paul Gallay, the uncle of Viel, the woman he plans to marry. Hans goes to Gallay's home, and a struggle ensues, leaving Gallay dead. The Whistler presents the story of the letter, a radio drama from The Whistler series, first broadcast on August 29, 1942, on CBS.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
