What happens
Henry Mitchell, overseer of a Southern cotton plantation, has long feared that his stepdaughter Doreen carries a hereditary tendency to murder that could surface under emotional stress. When Doreen grows distant from Irving Wallace, the young overseer she has fallen for, Henry urges Irving to keep away from her. Henry's brother Clyde Mitchell, a wealthy Hollywood writer, then arrives for a visit, and Doreen becomes infatuated with him. The Whistler series, first broadcast on CBS on February 14, 1943, presents this tale of inheritance, jealousy and a family's secrets.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
