What happens

Bertram Lowen, a tall and capable young man, takes a job as skipper of the yacht Golden Penny for wealthy Rodney Tremont, a playboy whose estate he has long sought out. Lowen wins a chess game to secure the post, then quickly grows close to Tremont's secretary, Delia Bird, and studies the household's dynamics, including Tremont's wife, Mrs. Tremont. Lowen's manner is calculating, and he plans his moves carefully as the household's tensions build. This story is part of The Whistler, a West Coast radio series, and this episode aired on September 10, 1950.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
