What happens

Darrow and Hazel Martin, a con couple posing as prosperous writers, arrive in the Southern California town of Mattson. Reading a local paper, Darrow recognizes the name of Joe Gibson, a former fellow prisoner who vanished with $75,000 in embezzled money, and he sees Gibson alive at a funeral home. The Martins begin probing the town's respected citizen Harmon Telford, hoping to locate the hidden money. The Whistler series aired on February 28, 1954, and this episode is a Whistler installment.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
