What happens
Henry Carter, a wealthy young man, drinks heavily and quarrels with his grandfather over money. Out with Nella Goodwin and her brother Jerry, Henry hits a man on a dark coastal road and drives on, leaving the body behind a billboard. The next day the Goodwins move into the Carter house, and Jerry begins to press Henry for favors. Lieutenant Jones arrives with questions about the night, and a cigarette case found near the billboard draws the investigation closer. Henry's grandfather, Mr. Carter, has his own plans for handling the matter. The series is The Whistler, and this episode first aired on September 24, 1943.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
