What happens

Gordon Stone, part owner of a Jamaican sugar plantation, wants to marry Paula, an American visitor who is sailing home unless he finally sells his share of the business. Gordon plots to inherit his partner Mr. Wakefield's stake, and he quarrels with Wakefield's son Wade over selling. Inspector Charles Carrington, an old friend of Wakefield, warns Gordon that Wade may turn violent. The story is part of the long-running radio series The Whistler, first broadcast on October 22, 1947, and is told in a dramatic style with a narrator. The events of the evening are set out in a storm-soaked night at the plantation. This recap does not give away the final outcome.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
