What happens

Mink Morris and her friend Anna are playing a game called Invasion in the garden, led by an unseen playmate named Drill, who tells them the children must take over the world at five o'clock. Mink's mother grows uneasy as the game turns darker, and she telephones her husband, Henry, at work. Mink's friends are gathering outside, and Mrs. Morris becomes increasingly frightened as the clock nears five. This is the Suspense episode Zero Hour, written by Ray Bradbury and broadcast on January 3, 1960.

A quiet suburban home and its garden on a summer afternoon

Characters: Mink Morris, Mrs. Morris, Henry Morris, Anna, Drill

Listen for: The children's game of Invasion and the approach of five o'clock as Mrs. Morris grows uneasy

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
