What happens

Mrs. Morris, a suburban housewife, grows uneasy as her young daughter Mink and friend Anna play a strange game called Invasion, with pots, pans and scribbled codes, and talk of a friend named Drill. Across the city, other children seem to be playing the same game, and the zero hour is set for five o'clock. Mrs. Morris calls her husband Henry at the office and watches the clock as the time draws near. The story is presented on the CBS series Suspense; this episode first aired on 1955-04-05, and the cast named in the broadcast includes Eva Ashton.

A quiet suburban neighborhood on a summer afternoon, with a house, a garden and a rose bush, in an American town.

Characters: Mrs. Morris, Mink, Anna, Henry Morris, Drill

Listen for: Listen for the children's chanting codes during the invasion game, and for the ticking clock as five o'clock approaches.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
