What happens
On a rainy afternoon at the Princey family's middle-class home, Millicent Princey confesses to her family that she struck and killed the curate Withers with a croquet mallet after he rejected her. Her father, the magistrate Fred Princey, and her brother George begin planning how to conceal the body in the old well outside the sun porch. The family's visitor, Captain Smollett, a guest who has wandered into their plans, becomes entangled in their scheme. Charles Laughton stars in this Suspense play, which was broadcast in 1943 by Suspense on December 16 of that year.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
