What happens

Lieutenant Joe Holloway, acting chief of detectives on the night watch, is alerted when Professor Harold M. Frolic reports that his car was stolen with a satchel holding a glass vial of live cholera bacteria. Holloway mounts a citywide search, alerting health officials and hospitals while officers hunt for the car and the satchel. The car is found abandoned, but the satchel is missing, and a man dies of cholera after being taken ill in a bar. Police trace the vial through the stolen goods trade and a neighborhood of apartment houses, where officers search door to door for a boy named Louie. The episode is a suspense drama starring Lloyd Nolan, broadcast on May 18, 1953.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
