What happens
Paul Rasserly is a man who, after his wife returns to him following a separation, comes to hate her intensely. Over months of tense silence in their apartment, he grows convinced that she sees through every thought he has. Ill and unable to sleep, he visits a doctor, obtains a sedative prescription from a pharmacist, and begins planning how to kill her. The story is an episode of the radio series Suspense, first broadcast on November 5, 1961, and written for the program by Ben Kagan. Sam Gray stars.
An apartment on the top floor of a building in a city, with a neighboring doctor's office and a pharmacy.
Characters: Paul Rasserly, Mrs. Rasserly, Dr. Bowman, Mr. Visser
Listen for: Paul's growing hatred and paranoia as he sits in silence with his wife, and his repeated attempts to poison her.
Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
