What happens
Raymond Houston, a freelance journalist, accepts a fee from the manager of Mariner's Waxworks to spend a night alone in the Chamber of Horrors among the wax figures of notorious murderers. He sits in a swivel chair facing the effigies and grows increasingly unsettled, convinced the figures shift when he is not looking. Among them stands the figure of Dr. Baudet, a Frenchman once feared across Paris, whose hypnotic stare unnerves him most. The story is told in the 1956 Suspense broadcast of A. M. Burridge's The Waxwork, performed by William Conrad as the only actor, first aired on May 1, 1956.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
