What happens
Jumbo Brannigan, a career criminal, is released from prison after 25 years and is placed under the care of his parole officer, who asks him to live with and provide for a 14-year-old boy he has never met. Brannigan agrees to make a home with the boy, and he takes a job at Peterson's Department Store. Soon, however, the boy's old criminal associates, Ralph Petrucci and Froggy Quinn, arrive with a plan to rob a loan company next door to the store. The episode is a Suspense drama from March 1, 1951, starring William Bendix as Brannigan and Tommy Bernard as the boy.
A prison, then a city where Brannigan is released; a department store; an apartment; a bar; and a loan company at night.
Characters: Jumbo Brannigan, Young Brannigan, Mr. Bishop, Ralph Petrucci, Froggy Quinn, Julius, Warden
Listen for: Brannigan's hardened voice as he tries to convince the warden and his son that he has reformed, and the tension when the criminals plan the loan company robbery.
Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
