What happens
Damon Wellington, a stage actor, and his friend Ben Weston discuss the troubled history of the play The Dark Tower and of Damon's sister Jessica, who has been in a sanitarium after a breakdown tied to her former husband, Stanley Vance. Jessica is preparing to return to the stage, but Ben warns that people suspect her of a murder. Damon's household is tense, and Stanley Vance reappears, claiming to be ill and demanding to stay under the family roof. Damon arranges a meeting with a visitor, Max Hartzfeld, who wants to buy into the production. This is an episode of the CBS series Suspense, broadcast on May 4, 1944, with Orson Welles starring.
