What happens

Lieutenant Johnny Solano of the New York police investigates a stabbing on a busy street, where a crowd gathers around the body of Edgar Dale. Dale worked at the Becker Sign Painting Company, and Solano speaks with his employer, Elliot Becker, who describes him as a solitary man who read science fiction. Soon an anonymous caller begins taunting Solano about the killing, sending him newspaper photographs of a bystander standing near each death. Solano and Reardon try to make sense of the caller's behavior and the pattern of crowds gathering at each scene. The episode is part of the Suspense series, starring Dana Andrews, and this story is presented as a crime drama built around the spectators at public deaths.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
