What happens

On Christmas afternoon, a ten-year-old boy named Dan Ilwry and his friend George Fennel explore a large cave near the sand dunes, using a new flashlight Dan received as a gift. Following a stream deep into the cave, they find a handkerchief that suggests someone is in distress, and the passage opens onto an underground sea. Beyond it, they come upon a crew of pirates who hold a captive lady named Alicia. The transcript covers the story only up to this point. Suspense presented the play on December 20, 1955, starring Richard Beale and Billy Chapin.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
