What happens

Joe Haywood, a steel lathe worker, gives a ride to a young woman named Roberta one foggy night on the California coast. When his car strikes a man on the road, Joe panics, and Roberta urges him to drive away rather than stop. They stop for drinks at a seaside bar, where Joe makes a phone call to his wife, Hazel. Afterward, Joe finds himself in a tense situation with a car that seems to be following them. The story is presented on Suspense, a CBS radio program, and first aired on July 13, 1954, with Kathy and Elliot Lewis in the leading roles.

Southern California coast, fog-bound roads near Redondo and Long Beach, and a seaside bar outside Laguna

Characters: Joe Haywood, Roberta, Hazel, Mark

Listen for: The fog horns and the drifting, uneasy talk between Joe and Roberta after the accident

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
