What happens

Andy, a night man at a mountain café at the summit of Cajon Pass, is looking for a ride down the hill to San Bernardino after his car is in the shop. His friend Dave, a truck driver hauling a load of refrigerated chickens, agrees to take him. Their conversation on the way down touches on marriage and Andy's nerves about it. Then the truck's brakes fail, and the big rig begins to race down the pass with no way to slow it. Suspense is a radio drama series, and this episode, Ride Down Cajon, aired on January 18, 1959, starring William Bishop.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
