What happens
Rodrigo, a Venetian gentleman, is angry that Othello has passed him over for a lieutenant's post in favour of Michael Cassio, and he joins Iago in plotting revenge. Othello, a Moor and general of Venice, secretly marries Desdemona, the daughter of the senator Brabantio, who accuses him of witchcraft and takes his complaint to the Duke. Othello is sent to command the defence of Cyprus against the Turks, and Desdemona follows him there. Iago, meanwhile, schemes against Cassio and Othello. This is part one of a two-part radio adaptation of Shakespeare's Othello, presented on Suspense in 1953 with Richard Widmark, Kathy Lewis and Elliot Lewis in the leading roles.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
