What happens

Ernest Cobb waits in a dark house on a rainy night, hiding in a closet with a hammer while he waits for his lover Myra Blair's husband Ray to come home. Myra persuaded Ernest that murder is the only way out of her marriage, and he has agreed to carry out the killing. The Suspense play, broadcast on August 9, 1945 and starring Lloyd Nolan, follows Ernest's nervous wait and his memories of how Myra first drew him into the plan.

A dark house in Hollywoodland, Los Angeles, on a rainy night, with the story moving between the bedroom closet and Ernest's earlier meetings with Myra.

Characters: Ernest Cobb, Myra Blair, Ray Blair, Julie Blair

Listen for: Ernest's growing panic as he waits in the closet while the clock ticks toward the time Ray will come up to bed.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
