What happens
At a remote desert test site, engineers Lee Thurston, John Grant and Frank Butler face a misfire in the Jack Hammer atomic bomb test. Instruments show the device failed to fire, and the control point must determine why. The men weigh the risk of delayed detonation against the lives of the marines and civil defense personnel nearby. Frank and John climb the tower to inspect the bomb's door mechanism, where a small wrench has become lodged in the door track. Suspense, the radio anthology produced by William N. Robeson, presents this story as a drama of nerve and technical problem-solving. The episode aired November 30, 1958.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
