What happens
Joe Wickoff, a truck driver, is questioned by Officer Callen after he witnesses a shooting on a deserted street on New Year's Day. Joe's past is a concern, and the police begin to suspect him. Joe's wife Bella grows increasingly worried as evidence mounts against her husband. Joe becomes desperate to clear his name and visits a gambling establishment run by a man called Pigeon Watts. The episode is part of the Suspense series, which features Danny Kaye in this production.
A city street and apartment on New Year's Day, and later a truck plant, police headquarters, and a gambling house outside town.
Characters: Joe Wickoff, Bella, Officer Callen, Hugo, Pigeon Watts
Listen for: Joe's growing unease as the police close in, and Bella's shifting account of events in the apartment.
Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
