What happens

Diver Nick Lawson is hired by Carl Foster to locate the sunken Adomar, a ship that vanished off Nantucket in 1911 carrying three million dollars in bullion. Nick, who has just left the Navy, descends to the wreck and finds it lying on its side in a gully. He prepares to open the hull and reach the strongroom, as the pressure of the deep and the danger of the mud weigh heavily on him. The episode is part of the Suspense radio anthology, first broadcast on January 19, 1953, and stars John Hodiak.

Deep water off Nantucket, aboard a salvage ship, and in New York in 1953

Characters: Nick, Carl Foster, Fred James, Gordon

Listen for: The diving sequences and the tense exchanges between Nick and Carl over the air hose and the risky plan to blast into the wreck.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
