What happens

Otto Leit, a man who has been paying blackmail to private investigator Herbie Sacks, walks the city streets intending to kill him. He enters Sacks's office, confronts him about the blackmail, and shoots him dead. Finding the detective had been on the telephone, Leit tries to trace the caller through a phone pad on the desk, which lists three names. He follows the leads to Lucius Collins, a waitress named Janice, and Art LaFoon, each of whom has a secret of their own. Leit's search becomes tangled with the men and women Sacks had been squeezing for money. The episode is a Suspense radio drama broadcast on CBS on March 24, 1952, starring Robert Young.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
