What happens
Clark Kent, secretly Superman, faces Homer Smith, the agent who has seized control of the Daily Planet for munitions magnate Rupus Pelly. Smith's gunmen hold Kent in the press room, and Kent must find a way out without revealing his identity. Later, Superman and publisher John Grayson plan to lure Smith to Grayson's house, hoping to uncover the people behind the plot against the World Peace Federation and the disappearance of editor Perry White. Pelly, meanwhile, grows suspicious and begins to plot a counter-move. This is an episode of The Adventures of Superman, first aired August 15, 1946.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
