What happens
Clark Kent and Jimmy Olsen search for a sealed letter that was lost in a taxi cab. The letter reveals Superman's secret identity and was meant to be opened only if Superman died. Clark believes the letter is in the hands of the two men who rode in the cab, and he worries about what might happen if it falls into the wrong hands. Jimmy questions Clark's odd behavior and his urgency. Clark decides to advertise for the letter and offer a reward. Meanwhile, the bushy-eyebrowed man and his companion Buster visit a shady fixer to learn about Clark Kent, and they read the advertisement in the Daily Planet. The episode is part four of the Adventures of Superman series, first aired on November 28, 1946.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
