What happens
Jimmy Olsen and Professor Timothy Twiddle travel to the moon in the professor's radar rocket, promising to return to Metropolis within two hours. Instead the rocket lands and stops, leaving them stranded on the barren surface. They find the air breathable and then see shaggy, three-foot creatures with monkey tails and drilling appendages emerging from below the ground. The creatures swarm over the rocket and begin drilling through its metal shell, and the two men struggle to keep them out. Meanwhile Superman, following a radar beam through space, has been struck by a strange force and loses the beam, which is his only route to his friends.
The surface of the moon, around a stranded radar rocket, with Metropolis as the starting point of the journey.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
