What happens
Dave Powers, a lunch wagon owner in Metropolis, has been swindled out of $2,000 by two partners who sold him a failing diner. After Clark Kent and Jimmy Olsen come to hear his story, two gunmen fire on Powers, and Jimmy is knocked unconscious when he is pushed to the floor. Inspector Henderson and Kent question Powers, who explains how he answered a newspaper ad and was misled about the business. He describes his confrontation with Max, one of the partners, who promised to return his money. When Kent and Henderson reach Max's rooming house, they learn he has already moved out and left town. The episode ends on a cliffhanger.
