What happens
Clark Kent and copy boy Jimmy Olsen find a turtle with scratched words on its shell that read "Dead Man's Island, help." They hire an old boat despite local fishermen refusing to sail near the island, which they say is cursed. Their trip ends in a sudden breakdown of the rudder and a wreck on the rocks, leaving the two of them in the water. The Adventures of Superman, first broadcast on September 23, 1940, begins its story of Dead Man's Island here.
