What happens
Clark Kent, reporter for the Daily Star, is asked by editor White's assistant Jay Hamlin to help Elsie Beecham, whose father, explorer Dr. George Haven Beacham, has returned from South America and asked her not to meet him. Dr. Beacham has gone to the Stone House in Brentwood, and Elsie has not been able to reach him by phone. Kent drives Elsie to the house, finds the grounds fenced and gated, and goes ahead alone to investigate while Elsie waits in the car. Strange dogs attack the car, and a drumbeat begins to sound through the trees. The episode ends on this cliffhanger, with Dr. Beacham's whereabouts still unknown.
A city newspaper office, then the Stone House in Brentwood, an isolated estate with an iron fence and gate.
Characters: Clark Kent, Jay Hamlin, Elsie Beecham, Dr. George Haven Beacham, Superman, White
Listen for: The sound of the car horn and the dogs attacking Elsie, followed by a distant tom-tom drumbeat coming nearer through the trees.
Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
