What happens

Clark Kent finds his colleague Lois Lane's apartment ransacked and Lois missing after a phone call, supposedly from editor Perry White, sends him there. Kent and the building's doorman, Marissey, learn that no visitor came up and that no one heard a struggle. Kent then calls White, who insists he made no such call and has been asleep. Later, Lois phones the office from an unknown location, demanding $10,000 in cash for a story she calls the story of the century, while White seems to be calling from a rooming house on Clover Street. When Jimmy Olsen checks, that address has no telephone, leaving Kent and Olsen baffled by the contradictions. The Adventures of Superman series, original air date April 1, 1946.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
