What happens

Jonas Tuttle and his family live on the island of Tahiti, where they have fallen into debt to Dr. Blonden. When Chester Tuttle returns from three years at sea, he brings a fighting rooster that Jonas plans to enter in a match against Emily Tate, and the family makes large bets on the bird. Screen Guild Theater presents this adaptation of the Nordhoff and Hall book, first broadcast on March 13, 1944, with Charles Laughton as Jonas Tuttle, John Hall as Chester, Charles Bickford as Dr. Blonden and Florence Bates as Emily Tate.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
