What happens
Max Wharton, editor of the New York Bulletin and well past forty, enlists as an ordinary private at the start of the war, drawing mixed reactions from his friends and his publisher, Robert Gao. His wife Polly follows him to Miami, where she settles into a crowded bungalow at Palmetto Court while Max struggles through basic training and officer candidate school. Polly's household mishaps and Max's grueling days set the tone as Gao's business interests begin to press on the couple. Polly, meanwhile, meets the Foleys, a commanding officer's family, and the unexpected visitor complicates her life. The episode is a light comedy of wartime domestic life.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
