What happens

Humphrey Van Weyden, a newspaper writer, is rescued from the sea and taken aboard the sealing schooner Ghost, where he is pressed into service as cabin boy under the ruthless Captain Wolf Larson. Ruth Webster, a woman he rescued with him, is kept aboard against her will as Larson's crew grows restless. Larson, a brutal and intellectual man, clashes with Van Weyden over the value of dignity and the hardness of life at sea. Tensions rise among the men and the captain's health begins to fail. The Screen Director's Playhouse presents this 1950 adaptation of Jack London's novel on February 3, 1950, starring Edward G. Robinson in his original role of Wolf Larson.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
