What happens
In 1885, a stagecoach carries a mixed group of passengers from Tonto toward Lordsburg through Apache country, as the warlike Geronimo's warriors are reported raiding ranches ahead. Among them are the Ringo Kid, a prisoner under arrest for murder, Dallas, a woman others have shunned, Doc Boone, a drunken doctor, and Mrs. Mallory, who is heavily pregnant and travelling to join her husband. The sheriff rides shotgun beside the driver, Buck, as the coach presses on despite the danger, and the passengers begin to know one another over the journey. This is the Screen Directors Guild adaptation of the film Stagecoach, presented on the NBC Theater with stars John Wayne, Claire Trevor and Ward Bond, first broadcast on January 9, 1949.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
