What happens

Joe Adams, a gambler who has lost his ship and his bankroll during the war, avoids the draft by taking the draft card of a dying partner, Joe Bascopoulos. Posing as Bascopoulos, he meets Dorothy Bryant at a Greek Relief charity and offers to run a gambling concession to raise money for war victims. Dorothy's trust in him grows as the charity bazaar approaches. This is the Screen Director's Playhouse presentation of Mr. Lucky, starring Cary Grant in his original film role, broadcast on January 20, 1950.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
