What happens

In the middle of the Atlantic in July 1943, syndicated correspondent Constance Porter finds herself adrift in a crowded lifeboat after a German submarine sinks her freighter. Among the survivors are wealthy industrialist Jay Rittenhouse, the steward Joe, a wounded seaman named Gus, and a nurse named Alice. Tensions rise as the group discovers a German crewman rescued from the water, and debates arise about whether to trust him. Screen Directors Playhouse presents this 1950 radio adaptation of Alfred Hitchcock's film Lifeboat, starring Tallulah Bankhead and Jeff Chandler. The guide covers the opening portion of the story as the survivors struggle to survive aboard the cramped boat.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
