What happens

Inspector Slimane of the Algiers police watches over Pepe le Moko, a charming thief who hides in the Casbah, where the police cannot easily follow him. Pepe longs to leave the Casbah and fall in love with Gabby Trano, a wealthy woman he meets there. Her fiancé Claude is nervous about the attention she gives Pepe, and Slimane prepares a trap. Screen Director's Playhouse presents this musical adventure, starring Tony Martin and Marta Torren in their original roles, with an introduction by director John Berry on the July 22, 1949 broadcast.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
