What happens
Randy Williams is made temporary foreman of a crew working in Tunnel 13 at a mine. Mr. Lieberson warns him to avoid blasting near a sandy patch. Snyder, a crew member who resents being told what to do, clashes with Randy, and tensions rise among the men as the work goes on. Randy keeps to the safety rules while Snyder grows more hostile, and an accident sets the crew on edge.
