What happens
Miles Ashby, a widower, has been drilling for oil on his farm after reading that the land may hold a reservoir beneath it, but his bank suddenly refuses further loans and his workers quit. Stumpy Jenkins, Miles's old friend, grows suspicious after meeting Tully Fillmore, who keeps pressing to buy the farm and its equipment. Ranger Bill, with his ward Henry Scott, rides out to the well to look into the trouble. Ranger Bill is the series title, broadcast in the 1960 era, and the lead actor is not named in the transcript.
A small town with a bank and a restaurant across the street, and a nearby farm where Miles Ashby is drilling for oil.
Characters: Miles Ashby, Stumpy Jenkins, Ranger Bill, Henry Scott, Tully Fillmore, Mr. Fillmore, Sam
Listen for: Stumpy's growing suspicion of Tully Fillmore and the sudden withdrawal of the bank's money.
Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
