What happens

Ranger Bill and his rangers confront a dangerous stretch of highway near Nadi Pine called Death's Half-Mile, where a sharp curve, a narrow bridge and a railroad crossing combine to cause frequent accidents. Bruno Allen and his son Eric, who live close to the road, are often the first to reach the crashes and press for action. Bill compiles records and recommendations and takes them to the highway commissioner, the railroad superintendent and the state police captain, who each cite budgets, company policy or staffing. The series is Ranger Bill, and this episode first aired on July 20, 1955.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
