What happens
Lumberjack Frenchie Desau asks Ranger Bill Jefferson for help with Border Town, a rowdy settlement where his men spend their wages on drinking and gambling. Frenchie shows Bill a building that has been turned into a saloon while still bearing a church sign, and Bill tries to find a lawful way to force the town to change. Meanwhile an underground coal fire is spreading toward the trees and then toward the town, and the rangers are called to fight it. Ranger Bill is a Moody radio network production, first aired in the era of this episode's 1962 broadcast.
The forest near Border Town, the lumber camp, and the Ranger headquarters, in the western woods.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
